Industrial Demand Response
Demand response gives consumers the opportunity to help reduce peak demand on the electric grid by adjusting or shifting their electricity usage during high-demand periods. Some regulators and utilities employ demand response programs as a resource to balance supply and demand. However, on both the utility and consumer sides, there are barriers to adopting demand response. Because industrial facilities can be significant contributors to these programs, there is a need for a deeper understanding of the barriers, drivers, technologies, markets, and potential for demand response in the manufacturing and commercial sectors.
Global Efficiency Intelligence provides targeted, sub-sector-level analyses of demand response potential in the manufacturing sector. We also work with utilities to develop practical solutions for managing demand response portfolios and enhancing customer satisfaction. In addition, we have conducted studies on the relationship between industrial electrification and demand response, exploring how electrified industrial facilities can potentially contribute to virtual power plants on the grid.
